The Art of Hop Selection

When it comes to crafting exceptional beer, few decisions are as critical as hop selection. At Resonance Brewing, we spend countless hours sourcing, testing, and perfecting our hop combinations to create the unique flavor profiles that define our beers.

The Journey Begins at the Farm

Our relationship with hop farmers spans over a decade. We visit farms in the Pacific Northwest, Germany, and New Zealand annually to hand-select our hops. This direct relationship allows us to get first access to experimental varieties and ensures consistent quality year after year.

Understanding Hop Characteristics

Each hop variety brings something unique to the table:

  • Citrus notes from Citra and Mosaic hops
  • Pine and resin from Simcoe and Columbus
  • Floral and spicy characteristics from European noble hops

The Resonance Approach

What sets our brewing apart is our commitment to layering hop additions throughout the brewing process. We add hops at multiple stages:

  1. First Wort Hopping - For a smooth, complex bitterness
  2. Kettle Additions - Building the flavor foundation
  3. Whirlpool Hopping - Extracting aromatic oils
  4. Dry Hopping - Maximum aroma impact

Tasting the Difference

The next time you enjoy a Resonance IPA, take a moment to appreciate the complex hop character. You're tasting years of relationships, countless experiments, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
